Woods I is an introductory course in woodworking. While in the class students will be taught how to correctly and safety
use hand and power tools. To gain experience with these tools students will construct the Indian Box and the Serving Tray. You will also be shown how to finish these projects with a variety of materials as well. Projects will be yours to take
home upon completion and grading of the finished projects.
Being an introductory class, students will compile a packet of safety information and project plans available for review and reference. This packet will hold all the safety, worksheets, project plans and instructor check offs, etc. and is to be kept in the classroom (in a binder) until graduation. Each term this packet will be referred to for review of the safety rules and responsibilities of the students in the classroom.
By the end of the term each student should have completed the safety tests, assignments and standards for the class and the assigned projects.
Grading Must pass all standards to pass the class
90% = A Examples 84% = B 72% = C-
80% = B
70% = C
60% = D

Minimum Passing Grade: Passing all standards with at least a 75% will earn you a D-.
